What collectibles and TCGs can Card Clerk scan?
Card Clerk is fully functional for English Magic: the Gathering cards, and is expanding to other TCGs. Pokémon is on track to be launched within the month, and our roadmap also includes Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Flesh and Blood, Lorcana, and more!
Does Card Clerk work with any computer or internet connection?
Card Clerk is designed to work in your browser with any internet connection. However, a poor connection or an older or less powerful limited computer will result in slower identification speeds.
Will Card Clerk work without an active internet connection?
An active internet connection is required to connect your Card Scanner to Card Clerk's powerful AI technology at this time. However, we are currently working on a custom solution that could work for businesses that want to use Card Clerk in places with a limited or unavailable internet connection, such as conventions or trade shows.
If you’re interested in this feature, please request a demo to learn more about this upcoming functionality!
Will Card Clerk work with my P.O.S. and digital marketplace?
Card Clerk can easily integrate with BinderPOS, and Crystal Commerce is on the way. Custom CSVs are also provided for upload if you don’t want to connect directly to your P.O.S. We currently provide prices anchored to FaceToFace games or TCGPlayer.
Have a custom solution? We can work collaboratively with your team to create seamless, tailored integrations for sites with unique needs.
Can I have multiple scanners under one account?
Yes. Our team subscription packages include up to 6 employee accounts, so multiple team members can be scanning and uploading at the same time. One of the benefits of our higher tiers is the ability to support additional scanners, to best fit the unique needs of your business.
How quickly are newly announced cards added to Card Clerk's database?
If you have a physical card in your hand, we are ready to identify it. The team at Card Clerk works tirelessly to ensure that our card database is updated as soon as the full set has been spoiled, with the machine learning models fully trained and ready to identify new cards within one day of the set's full spoiler being released!
Can Card Clerk create unique scans of high-end cards to be listed on my website?
Currently Card Clerk only scans one side of a card for identification purposes, so a high-end scan that requires both sides to be displayed on the website is not yet available. However, it is a functionality that the team is currently investigating and looking to add to our product roadmap.
Will I be able to scan cards in any type of lighting?
Card Clerks scanning technology is designed to work under your conditions! One of the things that sets Card Clerk apart from the competition is the AI's ability to identify cards under a variety of lighting conditions. However, clearer is always better. Muddled images that would make you squint make it squint as well, so we recommend finding the most well-lit area possible to set up your card scanner.
Card Clerk is always learning, which means that the more exposure our vision system gets to new conditions the more it learns to work under all conditions!
Can I use my own camera to scan cards?
Any type of camera can be used to scan! However, we cannot guarantee the quality of the scans, and lower quality images may result in reduced accuracy of results.
When will you be rolling out support for other TCGs or collectibles?
Pokémon is on track to be launched within the month of April, and our roadmap also includes Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Flesh and Blood, Lorcana, and more! If you have another TCG or collectible that you'd like to support, our team would be happy to work with you to scope and build out your request.
What makes Card Clerk different from other solutions on the market?
There are two key factors that give Card Clerk the upper hand in comparison to traditional scanners:
The first is that, unlike other scanning technologies, which rely on explicit identification techniques that ignore part(s) of the card, Card Clerk uses cutting edge image recognition that adapts to the complexities of your inventory. This means we're capable of identifying cards with subtle variants, unique sets, and niche art, and can let you know exactly what you’re selling and how much it’s worth.
The second is that Card Clerk is designed to work with your business. We will integrate into any systems you use. Card Clerk is designed to integrate with your business exactly how it works now, rather than forcing you to build processes around our software.
Can Card Clerk identify card stock variants, promo cards, foils, or card condition?
Card Clerk’s advanced AI can currently identify card stock variants and is training to identify both promos and foils. You can also easily flag foils and promos within the portal as you scan. As we continue to scan regular and unique card variants, our system will learn to accurately identify those as well!
Card conditions are another extremely difficult identification task that Card Clerk is investigating. We are currently researching the many different grading methodologies and exploring potential solutions. More to come soon!
As for card stock, unfortunately our machine has not yet been taught to feel.
I'm looking to catalog my collection. Does Card Clerk work with individual collectors?
Absolutely! Without a Point-of-Sale system linked to your account, you can still scan and view the market prices of cards, as well as save a CSV of the cards that you’ve scanned.
Does Card Clerk use cookies and data?
Card Clerk uses cookies and data to interact with our system. Cookies are used to store your sessions on your machine as you scan cards. We also store all images scanned, as they are key to training our ClerkAI vision system so that it performs better for you in the future!
Can Card Clerk detect counterfeits?
Counterfeit cards have become increasingly high quality, with card authenticators utilizing multiple data points such as transparency, touch, and cardstock thickness, which unfortunately can't be replicated through Card Clerk currently. We are looking into potential new hardware options that may be able to provide a solution in the future.
